Justice League “Heroes” Trailer Review

For a movie with a large amount of behind the scenes drama, Warner Brothers and DC Films have done a pretty solid job of marketing Justice League. Overall I liked this trailer, I think it did what it needed to do but I don’t think it was as good as the Comic Con trailer from earlier in the year. That being said who ever is doing the music for these trailers needs a pay rise, first the Gary Clark Jr. cover of Come Together, now the Gang of Youths cover of Heroes, this soundtrack will be awesome.

Lets talk about the opening of the trailer, I knew at some point they had to include Henry Cavill in the marketing given how much has been tease online, from his workouts, to the black suit and his moustache. I was worried that WB would do what they did with Doomsday and show either how he came back from the dead or his joining of the Justice League. Thus they proved me wrong and showed Clark Kent in a field talking to Lois Lane in a dream, which worked perfectly.

I wasn’t a fan of all the Steppenwolf footage, with the distruction at what looks like Themyscira and Atlantis, I feel this would have been better to reveal his destructive power in the film. I am still intrigued to see how his story plays out, especially since it has been said that Darkseid will not feature in this movie.

I like that the focus in this trailer has shifted from Batman and Wonder Woman, to show more of The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. As awesome as I think Jason Mamoa as Aquaman is, I was nervous for these characters, that they wont get their stories fleshed out enough or their time to shine. I will say that this trailer has changed me opinion on that, that we will see a lot more about these characters. Mamoa looks like he will bring a lot of fun to the movie, shown by the way he kills Parademons, and Ezra Miller will bring the humour, with each trailer showing a scene with his youthful excitement or clever one liners.

This is a solid trailer, it didn’t blow me away but it didn’t have too, it had to excite the people who aren’t sure what to expect from the film. It doesn’t show too much new footage that spoils the movie, but it does shows what we have already seen, just from different perspectives. I am still sceptical about the movie; I really hope I love it as much as I loved Wonder Woman thought. I would have liked a little more story to be shown in this trailer, but with the release just over a month, I think I can wait.

Check out the synopsis below.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
