Now we have had the release of the sixth Spider-Man movie it is time to see how it compares to the rest of the movies. Let’s start from worst and work our way to the best.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
This movie was incredibly painful to watch. There are very few positives if any with it. It is made worse by the fact that Sam Raimi had made two incredible films prior to this. I don’t buy into the excuse that Sony forcing him to include Venom was the reason the movie failed. He just made a bad movie and Spider-Man 3 is a bad movie.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
It is amazing how many silly mistakes this movie makes that create a mess of a film. There are positives but with so many of the negatives most people forget about them. The films has way too many villains that are weak, has too many different stories and doesn’t end strong. Credit to them for the death of a certain character, not many movies have the courage to do this and pull it off.
It was hard to pick which origin story I think works better between Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man. 2002 Spider-Man was one of the first real Comic Book origin movies to be made and redefined the genre by making a film for Adults and Kids.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
I wrote in my review that it has become popular to hate on The Amazing Spider-Man but upon revisit it really holds up. The relationship between Peter and Gwen was the best on-screen romance seen in any of the Spider-Man movies. Andrew Garfield brings a completely new style of character and you can have a lot of fun with him. It might not be perfect but it is a lot of fun.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
What Raimi did with Spider-Man 2 was something not explored in hero movies before. He delves deep into the stress of trying to balance being a hero and having a normal life. He also expands on the story he set up in the first one and improves on it by telling a good story.
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
This may be the fact that it is new but I had so much fun with this movie. I believe that Tom Holland is the best on-screen Spider-Man, he brought a certain level of innocence and heart to the role that felt fresh to both Spider-Man and the MCU. The villain is great, played by the excellent Michael Keaton. This is a fantastic teenage movie built into a comic book movie,
